November 1 – Paige

Last year, the idea of expanding my November ‘grateful’ posts a bit further than my Facebook page starting milling around in my head and led to the creation of this blog.  I have been a bit remiss in the past few months in my writing.  So, this month, I am stepping back, reminding myself why I embarked on this path originally, and moving forward.

For those of you who are new Facebook friends, a number of years ago, I decided to do an experiment of sorts.  Each day in November, I would post something that I was grateful for.  It was as much to focus on the good in my life and, to be honest, to see if I could limit myself to one post a day.  I honestly didn’t think that anyone had taken much note of it until one evening at a church youth event.  One young lady commented that reading my posts each day had made her look and focus on the good things in her life.  In that moment, I decided that each November I would do the same thing.

As I think back over the years, my November postings have helped me work through a lot that has transpired in my life.  A lot of the same themes come up each year…different layers of the onion I guess.  I never know where it will go as I wait for each day’s topic to present itself.

But today, it’s easy.  I am grateful for Paige, the one who unknowingly encouraged me to continue this.  She has grown from a lovely girl to a strong, beautiful young woman who inspires me and I admire.

Happy November everyone.
